Portable Apps (Windows 10) you can recommend?
Hello there!
Lately, I have found myself quite often using another computer (library, work, or a friend's computer) and decided to create a good, old PortableApps USB stick to carry with me. Are there any applications from PortableApps you or applications that generally have portable versions (PDFsam, Enpass portable, Veracrypt..) that you can recommend?
What's the best portable PDF Application in your opinion? I was hoping for a portable version of PDF24, but settled with PDFSam Basic in the end because PDF24 didn't have any.
For Video encoding I found TEncoder which seems to work without any dependencies, while Handbrake unfortunately needs NET Framework or some other dependency that requires admin rights.
For portable YouTubeDL I have settled with YoutubeDLG (gui) and Tartube. In case someone is interested in (portable) yt guis: https://old.reddit.com/r/youtubedl/wiki/info-guis
These are my selected tools so far:

PDF - SumatraPDF
Minesweeper (and all of the classics): https://archive.org/details/BestOfWindowsEntertainmentPack64Bit
For the video encoding, what do you do specifically with it?
Will check Sumatra! Thanks
Sometimes at work we have .webm files and quickly need .mp4 without using some online tool as that uploads videos who knows where, temporarily. Then, I often used H264 encoder to compress videos in size. Not much else aside from that. I found XMediaRecode now which seems to have been updated in 2022 whereas TEncode last updated in 2016. Might replace it with XMediaRecode.

If you are not re-encoding/transcoding, I highly, highly recommend mkvtoolnixgui if you are okay with MKV output instead of MP4. Otherwise, XMediaRecode is the best way I know (to do easily with a GUI).
WizTree > WinDirStat if you need quick overview. WizTree reads those magic Windows NTFS MFT and have results in seconds when WinDirStats go dir by dir, file by file. If you need deep deep search and/or Windows is funky then stick to WinDirStat, but for 99.5% of use cases WizTree FTW.
Where is TotalCMD? ^.-
also I don't remember why, but for some reason I have WinRAR too next to 7-zip. I guess 7-Zip couldn't create rar archives and I specifically needed
rar
for some outdated gov system.Haven't bought a single service in VirMach Great Ryzen 2022 - 2023 Flash Sale.

Will have a look at Wiztree and TotalCMD, thanks!
I also have Winrar and 7zip on my PC and I also forgot why. Some RAR stuff, probably. Can't hurt to have both. Good idea!

AIMP: music player
FileZilla: FTP/SFTP
Lightscreen: screenshot
qBittorrent: bittorrent
Sylpheed: email
Don't think I really need a portable music player as I listen to music on my phone. Any PC should have some way of playing a mp3 file anyway.
For SFTP I got Winscp portable (prefer it over FileZilla). I'll have a look at the others, thanks!
Fwiw, just tested if portableapps would work on university library PCs and they run just fine. Awesome!

foobar2000 or VLC for music
Have you seen this Video encoding tool?: http://dmsimpleapps.blogspot.com/2014/04/dmmediaconverter.html
Already got vlc on it (see op). Just opted for XMediaRecode. Seems good

For some technical stuffs, you may include sysinternal suite. You have KCleaner there but CCleaner should work amazingly with Winapp2.
Will check this out, thanks!

SumatraPDF as has been suggested before. Not just pdf, it can work with epub etc. So good all in one reader kind of app.
I don't see it mentioned (maybe I missed it) but Everything from voidtools. Great search app, way better than builtin window's.
WinRAR you will thank me later.
"I would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for that meddling Frankz and Mason!!"
since you are using editing tools i suggest krita
btw, how much space all these occupying?
for chrome...do u have history sync with server or only local history (i never sync my surface history with google i.e. only use local profile)
same for vscode setup... plugins, customization etc?
ThemeForest Profile
Space is a couple GB atm. Put it on a 64Gb flash drive, so all good. Chrome isn't synced on PortableApps atm. VScode is vanilla

Double Commander
Not really in the app category... but a *nix like shell with Posix utils, e.g. Git for Windows (bash) ~300MB or busybox-w32 (ash) 1MB, if like me you're more familiar/productive with that, hate Windows commands/scripts and have only dabbled with PowerShell.
A portable WAMP server may be useful in some cases.
Good idea!
Also Uniform server could be nice @alexxgg . Used it in the past

If you are only looking for quick visual lookup you can use Filelight by kde
Decided to go with MobaXTerm Portable instead as I already had it included for SSH and it also allows to run local shell/terminals where you can use Linux commands https://certsimple.com/how-to-run-linux-command-in-mobaxterm/
