A quick look at 'glances' the best of htop and atop with web ui options and remote cli based monitor
I was going to do a write up on lowendspirit about this but as its already well documented I decided to do a shorter awareness-raising post here instead.
I found it at random while not looking, it was mentioned on something I was reading almost as a throwaway comment but when I looked into it I was surprised it has never come up here before as its pretty nice.

Glances is a cross-platform system monitoring tool written in Python.
- Standalone
- Client/Server
- Web server
Docs and quick start guide: https://glances.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html
Quick and dirty overview:
Running in cli: glances
Enabling web ui (security options exist but I am not using them for this example): glances -w -B 148.163.76.158 -p 8080
You can also connect to another server over cli with the client/server mode, just a scrrenshot from the docs and link: https://glances.readthedocs.io/en/latest/quickstart.html#client-server-mode
That's it, just a quick dirty awareness post for something new (to me) I thought I would share.

I will love that running for a bit so people can have a look: http://148.163.76.158:8080/
No security considerations have been taken at all, it is just a test VPS I will flatten in a few days.

htop got a big 3.0 update a couple days ago...but don't think it's live yet in the distro repos
Looks useful, like you I'd never heard of it before your post and yet it has debian packages going way back. Thanks.
Going to be a bit cramped on my VT220 though
It was mentioned en-passant in a thread about monitoring tools a year ago (more or less)
The web server used to have some some hiccups in some configurations, YMMV
If you're into fancy, themeable htop alternatives, you may give bashtop a try. It has now a python port too, warmly recommended by the author.
Cheers, I will for sure have a look!
I think I really need to talk someone into writing one specifically for the VPS industry as I find I need to use 3 or 4 sometimes to get the full picture when troubleshooting.
That said I was super happy when atop added container support for openVZ 7.

edit...getting a bit off track here. Sorry OP
Looks similar. But old authors haven't worked on it in like a year. Some new ppl took over and pushed a ton of fixes

I used netdata in the past, web based and you can build your own dashboard to pull stats you want from multiple servers.
looks like they have a major update recently as well.
a lot of eye candy.
The all seeing eye sees everything...
Nice.
Though I still like bashtop ☺️

update on the htop 2.x vs htop 3.x
Essentially just more support for other bits as per the changelog the UI is the same:
2.x
3.x

Bashtop on the other hand may be the best 'looking' one hands down.
For a second during launch, I was expecting a commodore 64 game to start
