route and netstat are deprecated and no longer installed in newer systems.
Use ip route and ss instead.
While that is true, I still keep netstat around because I consider the way ss formats its output awful; especially when you use the -p option. You can get the old tools back by installing the net-tools package, btw; at least in Debian 10 that is still the case.
