its really nice. what raid is this again?
The Storage Servers are RAID6, all other products are RAID10. Supported by enterprise SAS12 HDDs (WD Ultrastars) and a beefy hardware RAID controller (Dells flagship model the PERC H740P). The latter one is especially important for RAID6 as the calculation of the checksum can quickly become the bottleneck in large setups. But of course, there is also a small battery-backed caching layer involved, primarily to prevent single customers to use up I/O all the time.

Contabo VPS S with NVMe drive. €4.99/month, plus I'm paying an extra €1.25/month for their Seattle, USA location. Really nice disk speeds.
Even in its current state, it feels a LOT faster than some other VPSes I've got. I was skeptical about the service quality given the price, but the VPS feels ridiculously fast, to the point where it makes me question why I still have VPSes with legacy 9-year-old Intel E3/E5 processes that have worse performance yet cost more.
NICE!!!
But... how is this even physically possible on a 10G (Internet) port? The server and the endpoint being inside the same DC featuring even faster internal networking? Or is this a glitch...?

Yes, all servers in Vienna are running on Dells 14th and 15th Gen platform.
There are even hints on Alwyzon.com that a real Dell fanboy might be able to spot.
