Interesting message from CF

Always Online is a service that delivers archived content when Cloudflare is unable to reach your origin server. For more than a year, Cloudflare’s Always Online service has been, in part, backed by our partnership with the Internet Archive.

As of 12 July 2022 Cloudflare is moving Always Online to be completely powered by the Internet Archive. As a result, Always Online will also no longer be enabled by default for certain websites, meaning that if you want to use Always Online you must manually enable it in the Cloudflare dashboard.

Users who have enabled Always Online powered by the Internet Archive will see no change in behavior. Users who have not enabled Always Online and want to continue to use the functionality should follow these steps:
Navigate to the Cloudflare Dashboard
Select the configuration page of the Caching section
Scroll down to find the Always Online tile and make sure you press “update”
Note: if you just see the toggle “on” it means you are already enabled and do not need to do anything else.

Opting-in to use Always Online means we will share publicly-available URLs from your website with the Internet Archive. This allows for us to make sure they have relevant content should we need to find an archived version to send to visitors.

If you choose to not enable the version of Always Online backed by the Internet Archive, we will not check for archived versions of your website if your origin is unreachable. This may result in additional errors being delivered to visitors when your origin cannot respond.

Background information on Always Online
In an older version, Cloudflare would crawl and archive pages for retrieval by Always Online. To provide a better service, we are now partnering with the Internet Archive to power Always Online. By partnering with the Internet Archive, we can provide additional resilience to our customers should wider service outages exist as well as rely on the Internet Archive’s expertise in crawling and archiving functionality.

Written by @Laton, 24 Apr 2021
Article was migrated from WordPress to Vanilla in March 2022

Cloudflare has recently adapted their SSL for SaaS product, which was originally limited only to their Enterprise customers but has now been released publicly. Yesterday they announced their Cloudflare for SaaS solution available to everyone. And to reflect their recent service evolution of the product they have re-named it to: Cloudflare for SaaS.

You may ask yourself: What exactly is SaaS?
Software as a Service (SaaS) is a method of providing software to an end-user where the software is not installed and maintained by the user, but via hosted services (most often through a web browser). Popular examples of such a service include Salesforce, Google Apps, Microsoft Office 365, etc.

Since the 15th of April, they have released their beta stage, which is available for sign up if you submit your request here. Before the introduction of Cloudflare for SaaS, your best bet was for your customer to set up a CNAME record and have them generate a private key and CSR.

On top of that, you would be required to maintain a solution to generate and securely store private keys. But with the introduction of Cloudflare for SaaS, it is now more freely accessible and has provided less of a burden when managing multiple customers.

Cloudflare Workers

Back in January when SSL for SaaS was announced, 80% of beta users were already building their application on Cloudflare workers. But by combining the use of Cloudflare for SaaS with Cloudflare workers, will overall reduce the time and core resources from building your application.

Security

It also has already provided DDoS Protection and Web Application Firewall (WAF) built-in. Alongside the benefits offered to the Enterprise customers at no additional cost.

So, if you want to have more control of your SSL certificate solution and would like a simple but manageable solution, then why not sign up for the beta.

Nice clean interface, (almost) no lag compared to Speedtest.net; and I liked the results.

Update: probably this has been around longer (see post below)! As a part of their 10 year anniversary I think - CF released it this week

Below are screenshots from my 100/100 home network.
Interestingly enough, when I used a VPN (DO, Bengaluru) - it connected me to CF POP in Chennai.
For VPN w/ Pune location- Mumbai (both makes sense). What does NOT make sense is when I go "commando" i.e. turn the VPN off,
speed.cloudflare.com took me to Singapore.

In other words, $20.00/month bring the WAF, and an "intelligent CDN" that optimizes pictures, and more page rules.

Is anyone using it, and would you say that it is worth it compared to dealing with these issues separately (e.g., ShortPixel on a CDN for pictures, a WAF somewhere, etc.).

Everything works fine if I turn off the Cloudflare proxy feature accessing the domain from my LTE connection. This worked with no issues when I was running mikho's NAT VPS a year or two but Cloudflare has changed their UI since then for DNS.

Is there something obvious I'm overlooking? The AAAA record is configured fine, it's just the IPv4->IPv6 proxy on their end that isn't working correctly.

Due to public health concerns related to the coronavirus outbreak, we saw no alternative but to cancel CloudFest 2020. The health and safety of our attendees, partners, presenters, and colleagues is of the
utmost importance to us. We were forced to consider the growing risk of exposure, especially in the
German state of Baden-Württemberg, where our event is located.

The unclear infection path, as well as the risk of quarantine orders lasting several weeks on short
notice, could not be ignored. With over 7,000 people from the Cloud community expected to gather from
almost every continent, the risk of inadvertently spreading the virus was just too high.

We know that this news will bring frustration as well as a few challenges, and we hope you understand why we arrived at this decision.

If you booked your event pass, hotel, or Deutsche Bahn tickets through the CloudFest Registration tool you will receive a full refund.

We know you may have other questions, and you’ll find answers for most of your registration,
accommodation, travel concerns, and how to receive your refund here:

Its sad that it's not going to be a "fest" this year. What are your opinions on this?

Flan Scan is a lightweight network vulnerability scanner. With Flan Scan you can easily find open ports on your network, identify services and their version, and get a list of relevant CVEs affecting your network.

Flan Scan is a wrapper over Nmap and the vulners script which turns Nmap into a full-fledged network vulnerability scanner. Flan Scan makes it easy to deploy Nmap locally within a container, push results to the cloud, and deploy the scanner on Kubernetes.
