I would argue popularity is more important, since performance is rarely a bottleneck, but issues and features are. Only nginx, Apache and LiteSpeed are used in the real world, by the average developer. Nginx for flexibility and performance, Apache f…

(Quote) Yup, it's definitely confusing. I would say that the "open source" on the website is an error, and they meant source visible.
-
(Quote) You should check your GitLab link, it might be source viewable at the most, they explicitly mention commercial license at the bottom.
-
(Quote) Check what AnandTech is doing. I know they use Handbrake, x264 and SPEC (?) for video encoding tests, and considering how many they do, it's almost certain they have something for AVX.

Everybody on the HN discussion is assuming that OVH is overreacting to a complaint. Personally, I think it's much more likely that it's just typical OVH shenanigans.
-
@sgheghele Yeah, I wanted to make sure nobody misunderstood you. I'm 99% certain they have an AUP, especially for such a low-margin consumer service. If you mean the long waiting time in your region, perhaps you should try a VPN to check for other …

Shadow.tech isn't meant for 24x7 usage, just FYI. Also, gaming VPS usually means game server VPS. I don't think any such offer (GPU and desktop CPU split up into VPS) actually exists.
-
(Quote) Single Page Application, I believe.

OpenNebula and Proxmox are the best options among the open source ones, IMHO.
-
(Quote) LetBox + a cheap lifetime VPN.
-
Normal will almost certainly go for Blesta, if they do, with some going for WiseCP or some such. The more premium ones will go for HostBill for the integrations.

(Quote) It's a Hetzner product, so I would say you'll probably be fine. Not via private address per se, but the internal network is decent. Perhaps something like tinc might work for you?
-
(Quote) Hetzner Cloud? 2GB Epyc + 256GB Block Storage will cost roughly 200 USD annually, you can scale up manually upto the 32GB VM when required, and then scale down.
-
(Quote) SES also charges for data transfer, which could potentially be an issue.
-
(Quote) The Ryzen is 34 euro in Finland, 39 in Germany. Also, a 39 euro setup fee.
-
Hetzner is the best overall. But, if you have specific requirements, there might be better options. Assuming the best value for money is required: RAM - 128/256GB Hetzner Auction Servers. SSD - NetCup RS (highest end has 2TB at 46 euros), distant …

Not interested, but for those looking seriously, cheapest is probably EDIS.at. Monthly pricing is at roughly 10 dollars for a 2GB VPS.

(Quote) Datacenter to datacenter connections tend to be better than residential to datacenter, and geographically closer connections tend to be better. So, the easiest way to get a better experience is to connect to a good, nearby PoP, so that last …

Would the ISOs need to be converted on the fly while downloading them? If not, a bunch of encrypted of drives (that rhyme with cream), all mounted on one decent VPS or machine that works adequately for the majority of users will suffice. For the use…

(Quote) You joke, but you could probably do that for 60 euros on Hetzner Cloud, although I doubt MEGA will allow that much.
-
(Quote) Everybody knows who you are and that you won't entertain unrealistic requests, but if a deadpool host shows up, that would be a very messy thread. Also, like everybody says, it should probably be set to sink more quickly than usual.
-
Perhaps the host could offer some examples, so that the requests would be based on their specialities? Otherwise, a free for all would get very messy, very quickly, in my opinion.

(Quote) Cheers, happy to help!

(Quote) That seems like a mix of NetCup RS 8000 G9 and your nighttime fantasies.
-
(Quote) Doubt many people are capable of providing this as a VPS, but NetCup has a Root Server with 1/4th of your required resources at 12 USD: 2 dedicated threads, 8GB, 160GB, 120TB on 2.5G. So, your requirements will be fulfilled at less than 50 U…

Hetzner Storage Box? Nvm, saw the budget.
-
(Quote) What about the Epyc series? Just as disappointing at the higher levels?
-
(Quote) WSI used to offer 100TB till a while ago, I believe they started offering 200TB with the launch of their Ryzen products.
-
Cheers! Yeah, they have pretty good pricing for power for 1U and 2U (something like 10A at 70 and 80 dollars respectively, I believe). I had to use the Wayback Machine to check their colocation packages.
-
(Quote) Yup, they do look pretty amateur, I admit, but AFAIK, they've been around for quite a few years and Nocix passed their colocations to them a few years ago, so I think they are sorta reliable?
-
AccuServHost, but you'll have to contact them (their WHMCS appears to be having issues). I believe they had one of the best pricing, $/kW wise.
-
(Quote) I'm fairly sure that comment was in jest, considering that's it...well, NL. Anybody who's somebody knows that location's importance.
-
(Quote) 100mbps per 4GB of RAM. That's the only limit for sustained usage.
