(Quote) I think the regression is specific to when the port is operating at 10/100 Mbps and so if you're operating at Gigabit speeds, things should be fine. That's also the reason why I suspect this didn't get caught earlier. (I hope my reasoning is…

(Quote) Should be - by flashing to IT mode it becomes a vanilla HBA and will just "pass through" the disks. If you prefer to buy pre-flashed cards, take a look at https://www.ebay.com/str/theartofserver - a good quality seller of such rea…

Get one of the LSI 9201-4i or 9201-8i models (or something like this). With the correct break out cables you can connect SAS and SATA drives to it (for future expansion) and it should be right within your budget as well. They are good cards that can…

(Quote) Get rid of the uid=0 and gid=0 parts in the fstab entry. You don't have it in your manual command and the defaults for these parameters are 0 anyway. I suggest go the otherway from only the bare minimum essential (or nothing) to check if it …

(Quote) That's what I wrote first, then I realized that's only for fscking and so has no bearing here (or so I think anyways). @Sanjue007 - I'm very curious to see if things work WITHOUT the uid=0,gid=0 parts. That is what you're manually trying an…

EDIT- removed some wrong misleading comments from me. I'm reading it all wrong. My apologies. Can you see (after you boot) if mount /home/fsn works fine?

As mysteriously as it went down, it is now back up again (but there was a hard reboot). Viva la chance and Bon Festivus.

(Quote) This seems to be for NVMe nodes/hosts (like in the OP). I think previously also none of the storage nodes had any issues.

I hope this isn't considered a necro, but LA is down again, very similar to last time. It's disappeared for about 5 hours now - even the panel think it's offline. Sigh. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Festive Festivus... may the joys continue.

My VM was rebooted and is back up now (uptime now is about 25m). It looks like there's still some network issues - so it's not universally reachable as yet. I think it'll take some time to settle down and be reliable. I suspect some node level issue…

(Quote) There is: https://status.hosthatch.com/ It doesn't show anything useful in this case - so I suspect that the status page is more location based (i.e. their core infrastructure at a DC rather than for a specific node at a location).

It's been down for ~23 hours now. I'm not sure if the node is down or if there's a network outage (node specific). I've not bothered to check via the console so far, thinking that it'll just come back up on its own once things get fixed.

Walkerservers will happily "resell" a specific Hetzner configuration for you as well - so if you're happy with them, you can pop in a ticket and request for them to order a specific Hetzner configuration and have it ready for you. That mig…

(Quote) Clearly that's a typo and applies to #6 instead. But I took the bait and commented (hey it's a legit way to get lucky).

@vpsslim - could you post a YABS? Thanks in advance.

(Quote) I'm now enlightened. For the not so enlightened, it means my wallet is preparing to get lightened.

@xleet - I would suggest you look at whether your devices support WPA2 Enterprise mode. If they do (quite likely for many but I'm a bit wary of embedded devices like Camera's etc.), you can actually have a single SSID (better coverage, signal and le…

(Quote) ext4 for the OS and zfs for your VMs (and data).

Did you check if you need a special MAC address (quite common across providers) to route the extra public IPv4? I've typically setup pfSense/OPNSense to be on the same public IP bridge (same bridge as that of the host node's internet interface) and…

(Quote) Have you tried adding preferred_lft 0 to the end like: up /sbin/ifconfig ens3 inet6 add 2a0d:xx.xx.xx::d/64 preferred_lft 0 I haven't gotten around to fixing the IPv6 issues/breakage in many of my VMs as yet. Previously, I had to use the …

(Quote) Exactly. Upgrading a particular ISO is just replacing the file with the newer version. Add/remove ISO's and they're auto read at boot to present the menu. Very convenient. I keep this USB as a sort of handy toolkit for various needs. So I s…

Just use Ventoy (https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html) and plonk in whatever ISOs you think are useful to have with you. Things I'd add to your list (depending on your taste, random order): * GRML * Tails * Clonezilla * Arch * Xubuntu or Lubuntu o…
