It's on a case by case basis. If I'm only looking for cheap hosting, I usually end up in nl, uk or the us. France is usually cheap as well, but I have bad experience with french infrastructure so I try to avoid it. If I want high quality infrastruct…

I ran a ISP in the 1990's, before it was cool, so back then I was the host. My first externally hosted VPS must have been with JohnCompanies or RootBSD, since they were basically the only ones supporting BSD in the early 2000's. But it was expensive…

(Quote) That is true, you did not literally deny it, but since I asked very directly if it was possible to disable it on my account and the answer ignored that question, I took that as a no. Reading the ticket again I can see that we probably just m…

(Quote) I asked if that was possible in ticket #926966, but I interpreted your answer as a no.

(Quote) My money is on their Bitninja protection. I have an account at myw.pt which works great, but I cant upload some of the content I was planning on hosting there because Bitninja blocks me whenever I try. Some of the content is documentation wh…

You could probably accomplish something like that with Icinga and zones, agents and escalations. It would not be a plug and play install, but with some configuration I think it should be doable.

(Quote) Basically it lists your income from work, selling of stocks and things like that. Expenses like paying interest on loans and a few other things that is deductable is also listed. And, of course, how much tax you pay. Not really anything tha…

(Quote) A bit off topic, but this has always puzzled me. Here in Sweden tax returns are public documents, you can lookup exactly how much income someone has and how much they pay in taxes. But Americans (maybe others too, haven't really paid attenti…

(Quote) Technically that might be true, but in reality this means the provider would have to be aware of op, would have to be interested in op's work, know that op is using his vps, and whatever op is doing has to be worth the effort. For all of tha…

(Quote) True, but with that level of paranoia op should really not be connected to the internet and definitely not post on a public forum.

I don't really understand here, why would a VPS be any less secure then your laptop or workstation?
-
I use both and they are both great, so if your server works I would not bother moving it. You are looking at a price difference of 11€ per year, if you value your time at all you wont touch it.

(Quote) There is an open source version at invoiceninja.org if you prefer selfhosted, and I think it's available in Softaculous as well. I do not have a lot of experience with it so I'm sure there are some drawbacks I haven't ran into yet, but every…

Doesn't Invoice Ninja have timetracking? I've personally only used it for pure invoicing a while ago, but I'm pretty sure it had timetracking to.

(Quote) Neither did OVH.

(Quote) Bought 1 now, had 4 already that do basically nothing. I actually downloaded a UK flag icon just now to use in my ssh session manager to highlight all the IH vps's so that I don't accidentally connect to them and disturb their idling.

(Quote) I actually don't know. Tried to find some info about the company, but they have switched owners and company name so often it's impossible to keep up. Tracked down like 5 different Swedish AB's and then it seems the ownership was sold to some…

Damn you! I absolutely do not need another VPS right now, but still... (Image)

(Quote) I noticed that structure on some of the images from the fire. I'm not a fire engineer (if thats even a thing) or anything but that made me think that the whole structure must act like a giant chimney when on fire, creating a lot of drag and …

https://prq.se/ The website looks like shit, but they've been hosting highprofile targets for 20 years. Just ask piratebay.

(Quote) This is something that I think is often overlooked. An experienced user can use it's expertise to tweak something to perform to it's absolute limits, while a newbie might use the software completely wrong and thus making it perform extremely…

I've worked with enterprise and government as well as running small and medium size businesses myself, so I think I have seen every side of the aspect. With enterprise and government, the "who takes the blame" argument often wins over pri…

To be honest, I was a bit worried that @AnthonySmith stepping back would be the end of this place, but now I kind of feel optimistic instead. I think @Mason and @mikho will be a great team. They both seem like laidback, humble guys that can stand th…

I nominate @mikho. A nice, helpful guy that seems pretty calm and relaxed even when dealing with stupidity, something that will come in handy I am sure. I also nominate @seriesn. The guy would die for anyone he considers family, so if LES becomes he…

Not saying that it means anything, but Fortigate has your site added in their blocklists as a phising site. https://www.fortiguard.com/webfilter?q=brick.novos.be&version=8 I just triggered a shitload of alarms in one of my firewalls :)

Some observations and suggestions. * I cant edit "owned since" on existing servers. Seems to work if you add it while adding the server, but it ignores it if I try to add it on already existing servers. * Not all servers have IPv4 address…
