the I/O performance has been miserable since my VPS was deployed. I checked twice yesterday and decided to wait for today to start setting things up. turns out the situation hadn't improved until this morning, so I decided to wait until the evening. well, nothing has changed...

yes. sadly I can confirm. started moving some backups from a nearby server... disk writes is about 5MB/s, iowait 40-50%.

it's either hundreds of users writing to spinning rust or abusers torrenting the shit out of it :(

  • I didn't bench again, but seeing only 5-6 MB/s still via iotop on transferring real data (archives) ... let's see, hopefully he get's it cleaned up.

I'm getting around 17 MB/s from my home connection (which maxes out at around 40MB/s). I guess it won't get much faster than this.

  • Didn't see a whole lot of giant storage offers...thanks for putting these out here!

I can cofirm there is high IOwait, my rclone transfer only 2-5 MB/s with 3-6 CPU Load

I always wonder if we're considering Mbps vs MB/s correctly :#

    at least I do ;-) :-P

PS: maybe there are troubles with the ZFS raid arrays already ... if some disk died and it runs around scrubbing all day, that obiosuly will f*ck up performance as well. I sincerely wish them good luck in figuring this out but seems it lacks a bit of planning or experience with that kind of product esp. when it comes to lowend audience ?‍♂️

Sorry for the delay in answering here
Was working fully on the new rack

for the performance what happened is a storm of users filling and testing their vms to the max which we have never seen before

the difference between here and last time is that
1- We got the same number of users that we usually get in 2 to 4 weeks of posting the offer in less than 12 hours

2- all past offers we had only 100mbps network which made filling the vps slower which helped in the first few days

to fix the issue we are currently moving some users to different nodes and we are suspending extreme abusers

as I said the performance should be back in few days and just in case we are extending refund window by another week so you have 2 weeks to ask for refund if you didn't like the performance

to fix this issue we have a plan for future offers but unfortunately it will not work for the restock in less than 2 weeks(too late to implement it)

  • GL getting people sorted! :)

@servarica_hani @vyas for validation please as I don't have the list I only pick the numbers:

    The winners are lines:

    • 54
    • 79
    • 5
    • 23
    • 82

Screencap below compressed to a gif, the first number (number 3) is just what it loads on so ignore that as I had not expanded it to 101 lines initially

    Congratz to the winners!
