VMs with v4 addresses not in these /8's sought
As part of a passive network monitoring project for a US non-profit (see my sig and follow links for details), IPv4 address assignment diversity is one of the important attributes considered for hosting selection.
We're always on the lookout for low-cost VMs that will have an IPv4 address assignment in a /8 we don't currently have a presence in.
Requirements and resource minimums are pretty modest:
- KVM is preferred, but LXC/OpenVZ/dedi/other might be considered.
- 512 MB of RAM
- 1 CPU
- 10GB disk of any type
- Minimal traffic, the equivalent of an unlimited 10 Mb/s Ethernet would be fine.
- Ability to remote boot/reboot/re-install/VNC (not with a Java app for the love of all things holy).
- A recent version of a standard Debian template required.
- At least one IPv6 address desired, but not required.
- Payment via PayPal is a must.
- Either monthly or yearly billing is fine.
- Ability to create contact/sub-accounts preferred.
- Provider with a public record of hosting services of at least 1 year.
If you can offer something like the above with an IPv4 address assignment NOT within these /8's, then feel free to post an offer or PM a follow up:
2,3,5,13,18,20,23,31,34,35,37,38,41,43,45,46,47,50,51,52,54,62,63,64,65,66,67,68,69,70,72,74,75,78,79,80,81,82,83,85,86,87,88,89,91,92,93,94,95,96,99,102,103,104,107,108,109,114,116,128,129,130,132,134,135,138,139,140,141,142,144,145,146,147,149,150,151,152,154,157,158,159,161,162,163,167,168,169,170,172,173,174,176,178,179,180,181,185,188,190,191,192,193,194,195,197,198,199,203,204,205,206,207,208,209,210,212,213,216,217
And thanks, but we already have plenty in 0/8, 10/8, 127/8, and other fun places. :-) We don't generate much traffic except for system management so we should be relatively support and hassle free customers.

we have 205/8 if you're game for Vegas Though we'd be $3.50/month.

Just as some pointers, one of my two London Oracle Cloud ARM instances is 140/8, and my recent storage VPS from Interserver was 206/8.
Cool, thanks. I used to have one there with you, but I think that was on an OpenVZ that eventually went EOL. If I order one, submit a ticket if it doesn't land in 205/8?

Thanks for thinking of me. I wasn't expecting any more responses to this thread. I've updated the list of /8's in the original post since there has been some changes since the thread start date.

I got a beta VPS from Advin in 204.10.x.x a couple of weeks ago. It uses a tunnel with a bit of extra latency, so it might not be suitable for your purposes, but it's probably worth asking them if you still need a 204.
im planing to open an AlpakaFARM !
I can do 82 and 37 if you can live with NAT.
Edit: realised that you don’t need these.

Thanks @yoursunny, @aqua, @alwyzon, and @Abdullah. We're still interested in /8 gaps so I'll take a look. So you are aware, we are increasingly more discerning when it comes to a service based on the /8 alone. The past year has exposed how fragile upstream relationships and address assignments can be. Providers that originate prefixes under their own ASN and have addresses allocations from an RIR are generally preferred.

Every address allocation eventually comes from an RIR.

Sure, but lots of providers, particularly many low-end providers, do not get their addresses directly from an RIR, but rather an upstream provider. When that upstream relationship changes, as it often does, the low end provider has to renumber with a new upstream provider, and who knows what /8 the new assignments will be in. The geographic location often changes too, and that is equally annoying.
Depending on your use case, this may not be a big deal, but if I get a system specifically for the /8 and/or location, an upstream change is a real bummer. For my use case, I'd like to avoid the likelihood of that as much as possible.
