I need hourly vps, without KYC, payable with crypto

edited January 2023 in Help

Hello everyone
I need a vps:

  • in EU or US region
  • it has to be billed by hour, so that I can enable/disable/remove it if needed (my isp/gov randomly blocks server IPs/IP ranges, so I need a cheap/free way of changing server or IP)
  • no KYC or credit card or phone number, payable with crypto
  • resonable prices (I've tried bitlaunch.io and its prices are ridiculous)
  • provides a test service so I can check if the IP i'm getting is already blocked or not!

PS1: I live in Iran and I need this server for launching a personal vpn

  • Hmmmmmm, seems legit.

  • I don't think there will be any provider who can fulfil all your needs. If you need hourly billing then go with big cloud provider like Vultr , Linode or Digital Ocean but then you need credit card for payment.
If you want Crypto payment then there are many provider like @MannDude but then you need to pay for whole month.

Currently Using Hetzner , OVH , Buyvm , Webhorizon , Hyonix , ConnectIndo

I expect this is due to sanctions against Iran. Kind of hard to have credit cards when Visa, Mastercard, etc can not do business in the country.

Windscribe was doing a thing for a free VPN 30GB per month for folks from Iran back in November. I am not sure if it is still going or not but OP might want to take a look at them.

Yes, because of US sanctions against iranian banks (and not individuals) and some FATF rules, we can't have credit cards.
Regular paid/free vpns dont works anymore. Only things that work from time to time, are ssh/vmess/vless, until server ip is blocked for good!

Here's one suggestion that might work: Try to find a reliable site that sells Paysafecards (smth like gift card voucher where you get balance in €) and then redeem at one of Germany's many "prepaid" vps providers. From the top of my head I can't think of any that support both, hourly billing and Paysafecard, but I'm sure somewhere there must be one that offers hourly billing and psc. Then just pay your vps with Paysafecard. In general, with Paysafecard you could probably buy from 70% of Germany's Prepaid VPS providers. It's a big thing here kinda. Ofc, lot's of SMBs but for your purpose this might still be useful.

  • Lunanode has hourly billing. It also supports the following payments:

    • Bitcoin or Bitcoin+Lightning (via BTCPay)
    • Coinbase (ETH, LTC, BCH, DAI, LTC, USDC)

You simply load your account with credit, and use the servers. The hourly amount is deducted from the credit.

LunaNode is great. Using them for years on and off. Still got 80$ free credit from back then.

@Gudarzi - Regarding test of IP ranges: no provider will give you that. It is like stating the addresses of all your customers to some unknown person. The very fact that you ask such question makes you a highly risky person. I don't care you're from Iran, but if you ask this, I would immediately ignore you and block you from ever contacting me again. It's an insult to provider's privacy.

IP addresses are allocated randomly from a pool of available IPs. It is how usually works with most providers. Providers do not know what you will get.

The "hourly" part is the interesting twist, because you wish to pay by hour, so if your whole range of IP gets blocked in 3 hours, you want another range, and another range, and another range... until you start complaining and loading support... right?

All this seems to have a "risky" scent with soft tint of "abuse" at the end. But maybe it's just me and my current flu affecting my smell and thinking.

You're right, it sounds so bad, but I've got to do whatever I can.
in recent months, because a lot of people here ran Hetzner (and Digital Ocean) servers and they kept getting blocked, almost all hetzner ips are useless now!
sometimes ips get blocked after 3 hours, sometimes 3 months, and they usually get Unblocked after a couple of months of inactivity!
for now I'm going to try Lunanode.
    Thanks for helping

    1. if any details about a public/personal vpn server owner leaks out, that person gets into so many troubles here (including 10+ yrs prison or even death sentence)
    2. site that have KYC usually don't have iran in their country list
    3. sites that do have iran listed, either don't let you use their services after kyc, or they dont accept your kyc, or they are blocked already, or something else....

Maybe Snowflake (albeit not a personal vpn) could also be an option.

Does Lokinet (similar to tor) work?
    https://lokinet.org/

While Tor and Lokinet are both onion routers, they are very different at both the protocol and infrastructure levels.

Tor relies on a network of volunteer-operated relays and a set of central directory authorities, and this infrastructure introduces a number of weaknesses and limitations. Because Tor’s circuit moderation is bandwidth-weighted, you are much more likely to use high-bandwidth nodes than low-bandwidth ones, meaning that a large percentage of Tor’s 7000+ nodes are underutilised due to having insufficient bandwidth. Additionally, Tor relies on a limited set of directory authorities. When these directory authorities are compromised or suffer from technical issues, the stability of the entire Tor network suffers because the network is unable to agree on what the node set is or the roles of nodes in the network (whether they were guard nodes, exit nodes, relays, etc.).

Instead of relying on volunteers, Lokinet leverages the Oxen Service Node Network. Because Oxen’s service node operators are required to provide high-quality nodes — and are actively incentivised to do so — Lokinet’s relay network is consistent and reliable. Lokinet also inherits the market-based Sybil attack resistance of the Oxen blockchain, increasing Lokinet’s security against such attacks.

Instead of Tor’s system of central directory authorities, Lokinet stores the state of the service node network on the blockchain. Every service node has access to this list, and comes to a consensus on it, making Lokinet significantly more decentralised than Tor.

Lokinet is also more versatile than Tor — Tor operates on the transport layer and is only able to carry TCP traffic, while Lokinet operates on the network layer, meaning it can onion-route any IP-based protocol: TCP, UDP, ICMP, etc. This means Lokinet can be used for much more than just web browsing — it can also handle things like media streaming and video conferencing.

  • Doesn't fulfill your hourly payment requirement, but if you don't find something reasonable might be worth asking if they can offer you something that fits your needs.

Quite sure they'd be willing to help, given "We're strong supporters for Net neutrality, privacy and Free Software.".

There are many solutions without hourly billing, but obviously he wants to save every cent and switch IP ranges as often as possible.

  • Howdy compadre,
I can't help you much when it comes to providers (I got booted off from most of them.)
I still have a server with Terrahost but it's billed monthly not hourly.
As others have mentioned Luannode is probably your best chance. Keep in mind thou, they may blacklist the whole IP range if they get suspicious.

I can give you some tips on how to avoid getting blocked:

    • Use XRay (VMess/VLess) + TLS + WebSocket behind CloudFlare

      • They won't see your actual IP address
      • You'll need a domain name for this one
      • Worst case scenario your domain will get blocked instead of your IP
      • May not work with every ISP. It's hit-or-miss...
      • It can be slow
    • Use XRay + TLS with a fake self-signed certificate

      • You have to self-sign a certificate for an Iranian domain (cafebazaar.ir, sibapp.com,...)
      • Works best with Irancell but can also work on IR-MCI
      • Your IP is visible so there's still a small chance of it getting blocked again.

The way they block TLS is by TLS fingerprinting and checking the SNI.
By setting your SNI to an Iranian domain, you may get away with it completely. Also XRay can prevent TLS fingerprinting to some extent using uTLS.

Keep in mind, different ISPs behave differently. I've had more luck with getting XRay (with TLS) work on Irancell than IR-MCI.
Irancell (and Rightel) has IPv6, you can try connecting to your server using IPv6.

Also not all IPs are blacklisted the same way, sometimes IPs are blocked completely in which case you can't do anything with that IP.
But sometimes they're "greylisted", what I mean by that is they are suspicious of that IP but they won't drop the traffic completely, some whitelisted protocols like TLS may still work.

Nope. That's not God. Stable Diffusion is our invention which relies on our words, our language, our servers, our human eye, and our brain to appreciate it's value.
