MetalVPS EX101 News!

MetalVPS now has an EX101 server. The EX101 has interesting, new hardware:

Motherboard

ASRock Rack W680D4U-1L

Processor

Intel® Core™ i9-13900 Processor

RAM

M324R4GA3BB0-CQK(DDR5 ECC) | DRAM | Samsung Semiconductor Global

Disk

SAMSUNG MZQL21T9HCJR-00A07 PCIe Gen 4

MetalVPS is trying to figure out what to do with the new server. It seems to perform very well! However, the EX101 costs € 89.00 per month. It would be great if we could find a way for some guys to enjoy Low End fun on the server while recovering the monthly server rent. If you have a good idea, please post here in this thread. Thank you!

Friendly greetings from New York City and Sonora, Mexico! :)

Hi @ralf! I'm not getting a special deal. In addition to the monthly fee I also paid the setup fee. Nevertheless, I believe that everybody coming, like me, from an international location where Hetzner doesn't have to charge VAT gets the price which I am paying. I haven't checked recently, but one used to be able to see the non-VAT prices by setting a location flag at the top of Hetzner's web page. Note also that, at € 89.00 monthly, I am paying something like € 5 extra per month for FSN. When I got the server, Helsinki was less expensive than FSN, but the delivery time for an EX101 in Helsinki was longer than I wanted to wait.

  • Decorate the site with some Google ads maybe? And I'll whitelist them.

Special note for the United States: Starting on 1 December 2021, we started to charge a 8.25% VAT rate for customers located Texas. We then also add VAT to customers located in Utah and Arizona. However, in Utah and Arizona, the VAT rate changes based on which city/county people are located in. We invoice customers for the VAT rate based on the address listed on customers' accounts. Beginning on 1 October 2022, we started to charge VAT for customers in Colorado and New Mexico; the VAT rate here also changes depending on which city/county customers are located it. If you as a customer have a valid tax exemption certificate, you can send it to the Accounting Team by writing a support request on Robot/konsoleH/Cloud Console.

  • Ah yeah, sorry, I keep forgetting that not everyone pays VAT on Hetzner! Probably the third or fourth time I've done so... :#
