What is the best browser in your opinion?

Hey folks! I've been thinking about switching browsers and I need your opinion on the best browser. I currently use Brave which is standalone a great browser. However, I find some features to be quite lacking. Here are some things I'm looking for:

Speed and Performance: A top browser should be fast and responsive, providing quick page loading times and smooth browsing performance. It should handle complex web applications and multimedia content efficiently.

Security: Basic but not to the point of limiting - Malware, phishing attacks, and other online threats should be handled by the browser. Regular security updates and strong privacy options would also be essential.

Compatibility: The best browser should be compatible with a wide range of operating systems and devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. Cross-platform availability allows users to seamlessly switch between different devices while maintaining a consistent browsing experience.

User Interface: The browser should have a clean layout, easy-to-navigate menus, and customizable options to suit preferences.

Tab and Bookmark Management: Provide features like tab grouping, tab search, and the ability to save and organize bookmarks for easy access.

Extensions and Add-ons: Needs to includes a wide variety of extensions and add-ons. These can enhance functionality, provide additional features, and personalize the browsing experience. Support for popular extension frameworks, chrome web store compatibility?

Developer Tools: A comprehensive set of developer tools, the browser should provide robust debugging capabilities, performance analysis tools, and an accessible interface for inspecting and modifying web elements.

Customization Options: Includes options to personalize the user interface, adjust privacy settings, and control various aspects of web content, such as blocking ads or disabling autoplaying videos.

Thanks for taking the time to read all that! Looking forward to hear back from you guys. <3

  • @Jab You aren't wrong.

  • Hi there! It's great that you're considering switching browsers. Based on the features you're looking for, there are a few options that could meet your needs:

Google Chrome: Chrome is known for its speed and performance. It has a clean user interface, supports tab and bookmark management features, and offers a wide range of extensions through the Chrome Web Store. It's compatible with various operating systems and devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. Additionally, it provides robust developer tools for web development.

Mozilla Firefox: Firefox is another popular browser known for its speed and security. It offers a customizable user interface, advanced tab management options, and a wide range of extensions. Firefox prioritizes user privacy and regularly releases security updates. It's also compatible with multiple platforms and has developer tools for web development.

Microsoft Edge: If you're using Windows 10, Microsoft Edge is worth considering. It offers a fast and responsive browsing experience, with built-in security features such as protection against malware and phishing attacks. Edge supports cross-platform availability, has a user-friendly interface, and offers features like tab grouping and syncing across devices. It also supports extensions from the Microsoft Store and Chrome Web Store.

These are just a few suggestions, and each browser has its own strengths and weaknesses. I would recommend trying out a few of them to see which one best suits your preferences and provides the browsing experience you're looking for. Happy browsing!

Firefox isn't fully compatible with all websites designed for Chrome. There are some websites that fails to load properly on firefox. Trust me, as a Firefox user, I know... I am not switching to google chrome as they are ditching adblocker support so I'll stick to firefox.

  • On Windows I use a modified Chromium; on Ubuntu I use Firefox; on macOS I use safari.

From my experience, most websites are designed for Chrome only...

  • I feel like I need to switch browsers too.

  • I use Firefox for personal surfing and Chrome for work, just to keep bookmarks and history separated.
Honestly, sometimes I cant even tell which one I'm using, they both do the same stuff and they look very similar.

  • +1 for Vivaldi

  • Moved from Firefox to Brave, very comfy.

  • Safari is excellent. If you're on Windows/Linux, Firefox is a good choice.

    1. Firefox or Librefox if you want a more private by default Firefox.
    2. Vivaldi, my preferred Chromium-based browser. Also, the most customizable web browser.
    3. Brave, snappier than Vivaldi but doesn't have too many additional features.
    4. Edge is actually quite good, very feature-rich. But, Microsoft bloat and tracking needs regular attention and clean-up. A lot of people are going to switch to Edge due to the integration with the (new) Bing/ChatGPT.
    5. Pale Moon, if you are using a decade-old PC. I just had to mention this :D

  • Mullvad browser, it is basically Firefox+recommended privacy and security settings pre enabled. Extremely buggy in ARM machines tho.

I don’t think any browser is the best. I constantly switch between a few. That being said, it’s not chrome. Chromium based can work tho. I use Safari, Brave, Edge.

  • I use Orion, but that's Mac only.

  • +2 for Vivaldi
