(Quote) Well there's trust and then there's trust. Do I trust them enough to keep my mp3 collection there? Sure. Do I trust them enough to keep my unencrypted tax returns there? No. The consequences for being wrong are higher in the second scenario.

Never pass up an opportunity to get a shot in.

(Quote) Technically he asked whether Adguard would run with the default ports ... which it likely will quite happily ( it just won't work on ipv4 ).

(Quote) Sounds like I might've touched a nerve. It was just an attempt at levity since you said you left Facebook but never really left using the other apps. If you took that as an attack then I sincerely apologize as that was not my intent.

Perhaps draw a little more attention to the fact that you're mounting the source read-only? Just in case someone ever wants to restore something.

(Quote) I'm curious what are people using the (4) cores but only 512MB of RAM for?

Didn't @Daniel just do a blog article about that?

(Quote) I don't know if Virmach appreciated it but I certainly did so for that I thank you.

(Quote) No worries. I only mentioned it so people would know my experience. I've actually found Hosthatch to be very responsive for anything they can do in short order. "Can you transfer this VPS?" Done. "Can I get a private interfa…

(Quote) Nope, took about 12 hours. (Quote) I talked with them a little bit. What I took from it was they're reviewing all transfers because some people are actually selling promotional machines and not disclosing that promo machines have special co…

It does seem a little weird. The $2.50 transfer fee is all that really needs to be paid up front. After that it's my machine and I renew it or don't.

(Quote) I've always considered public key logins to be 2FA - something you have ( the key file ) and something you know ( the password to the key file ). It's not OTP but it is 2FA.

I wonder if something like https://github.com/StreisandEffect/streisand might work for you. It's a bit heavier than some of the simple Wireguard install scripts but it sets up a couple different vpn/proxy methods as well as different user profiles a…

(Quote) I was going to argue relevancy but since you specified "old and unpatched stuff" I figured learning the wrong way to do things was kinda on target. :P

(Quote) If you're not using the caching pieces of nginx I they're about the same and personally I find HAProxy config files easier to read.

I'm used to doing it with dedicated certs but there are documents on how to set it up with HAProxy. Didn't look too bad to do but I, uh, might've cheated and used my webhost to create a wildcard. I'm waiting to see if when they renew it I have to re…
