Hetzner Auction Server + tunnel to BYOIP VPS provider.
-
@tetech If you're set on direct access to the HDD, these seem to be your options: A Hetzner Auction server (storage servers seem to start around 33 euros, and the biggest ones go below 1e/TB) Server-Factory storage VPS (2e/TB for NAT on multi-yea…
-
If you were doing this for fun, I would have researched and provided some options, but since you aren't, I'll just come out and say it: Don't do it. It will be far more trouble than it's worth: you only need 10TB, and the difference between your ra…

(Quote) Searched for those specifications on ServerHunter, OVH has multiple options around 200 dollars, and if the IP requirement can be relaxed, there's always Hetzner. Also, WHT has good deals from WebNX etc. All in all, I wouldn't mind some rela…

(Quote) Maybe so, but it's certainly interesting timing, to have a sale so soon after their IP price change. (Quote) And I'm one of them, who'll literally never need an additional IP. But the whole incident will definitely make me reconsider every …

I nominate: @Mason Why: He is well known and seems reasonable about most things. Also, YABS.

(Quote) Seriously? https://github.com/ReinerNippes/nextcloud

ReinerNippes has an Ansible script on GitHub, use the non-Docker version to get started.

YADE, by SOS Berlin.

(Quote) Yeah, I wouldn't go for SSDNodes if I care about an individual VM, cluster of cattles only on those type of providers. And they aren't famous as such, just decent value for APAC, if they can fit your needs.
-
@seenu Nobody goes for SSDNodes for the CPU, it's highly oversold. But, they do have a decent amount of RAM, disk and bandwidth for their APAC locations, so if somebody's use case primarily requires those (for eg. Nginx cache, private VPN etc.), it …

(Quote) For the first one, Serverica might be your best bet, they are going to restock in roughly 2 weeks. For the second, NetCup or LetBox. Very cheap bandwidth.
-
2 euro per core, so much cheaper to: 1. Buy multiple machines 2. Go for LXC virtualisation 3. Go for PHP-Friends/Avoro/Hetzner machines. Dedicated threads basically, 95%+ continuous usage allowed.
-
(Quote) Running assumption is that only 25% RAM is usable consistently. Still one of the cheapest options for APAC regions in terms of RAM, disk space and bandwidth. Also, would recommend going for only 1 year billing cycle, those prices are for 3 (…

Cociu is gonna have storage deals I believe right around now over on the dark side, so perhaps check that out?
-
(Quote) No, for many reasons: It's in the same physical location and storage medium. Software errors and human ignorance will cause data loss. Etc. RAID is just for keeping stuff online, backups must always be done.
-
@SoftShellWeb Didn't mean to imply you are overselling, I just know of a few providers in that region with highly oversold networks, that still offer less than 1TB bandwidth. So, somebody who is trying to offer quality will obviously have less bandw…
-
(Quote) Even highly oversold networks have less than 1TB bandwidth per VPS in Taiwan, and the second part is just a copy paste error.

(Quote) Very un-legit, I should say. Definitely not, I think it'll probably go under in 2022.
-
(Quote) It's probably both. OwnCloud is stable, but old. They didn't develop much for years I think, so NC might (might) be faster than them. I wish somebody would just make a open source clone of FileRun, that software seems decently made, all thi…
-
Rereading my comment, I feel like I might have come across a bit too critical of NC. I'm more used to stuff like RClone, Redis, Nginx etc. which were built with performance, reliability and ease-of-use as the foremost concerns. After that, any proje…

(Quote) The amount of stuff you have to keep track of is pretty disturbing, really. Don't use External Storages too much, because a local cache isn't kept, so it's ridiculously slow. Don't depend on the JIT Preview Generator, because it is ridicul…

Isn't it limited to like, 1 instance per account? Not really fair to compare it to normal offers from others. And if you consider RAM and Disk space too, the CX11 comes out as 5% more value for money. Also, 100mbit, eww.

(Quote) ReinerNippes has an Ansible script, NextCloudPi was also made to make it run better (it's not solely for the Pi), there's some guy who runs a website almost entirely for tips (can't remember the name, sorry). (Quote) Yeah I suppose so, at 3…

(Quote) What NextCloud recommends are the bare minimum, equivalent to running on a Raspberry Pi. NC requires Redis and beefy PHP settings, which means a healthy amount of RAM. It also benefits greatly from having the DB on an SSD. There are multiple…

Letbox or Inception in Phoenix is your best bet. Letbox has 1 vCore, 1GB and 250GB for 30.12 USD annually, basically half your current price.
-
(Quote) Yeah, I don't intend to get anything this BF, but just some idle calculations didn't hurt anybody.
-
If somebody's bored (like me), you can make some reasonable assumptions based on the number of xx in the plan that you want, and considering the plan above and below it.
-
(Quote) Perhaps LetBox might have something for you? They tend to be among the best for HDD, and they introduced Ryzen a while back.

(Quote) The issue is not resources, but how those resources might be used.

It has a reasonable power usage, and it supports ECC and isn't ridiculously expensive, even new. For those who actually want to use it, and don't care about Enterprise Certified ™, it's basically the perfect choice.
