I have discovered a truly remarkable number which this comment field is too small to contain.

0.31830988618379067153776752674503 Inverse pi. (Also the probability that @cociu ever returns to this thread)
-
(Quote) Interesting ... without the pi-tassium it might be prime. (Based only on running this until I got bored)

(Quote) Hmm, looks a bit like a prime number but it isn't. But if you divide it by 523, you get 159895747457733045773006933561251156133034186992484863721323947119553122235237740871427465841979859612916936469718407958946175829305183562024354091751001…

Why not just keep things simple? (Image)

Thanks. I think I do understand the notation. But I'm still confused, as ::2 surely isn't a public IP. And yet it appears with "global" scope alongside my public IPs... root@notty:~# ip -6 a1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 st…
-
Thanks, do you mean ::2 is a special address used just for the gateway? Is this an OpenVZ thing? I read in various places that ::/96 is reserved for IPv4-compatible addresses (deprecated) so at first I thought it was something like that.

Classy gifs, classy deals!

(Quote) That's not what I meant. Look at the list of apps posted above and you'll see they are mainly android apps (“EMI Calculator”, “Automatic Call Recorder”, “IPTV Manager for VL”). (Quote) I assume you mean this paper. I must be missing somethi…

(Quote) I haven't seen any proof that they are actually using compromised IoT devices. Most likely that they get access via dubious "free" apps that unwitting consumers have installed - see the quote from the legal document I posted above.…

Looks interesting! Am I right in thinking that some are OVZ6 and some OVZ7, depending on the location?

(Quote) What's that phrase, "the devil makes work for idle VMs"

Mangools seem to have a offer on ... perhaps worth a look?

Amazingly it seems there are patents covering these "methods" for obtaining the IP addresses. Maybe not be quite as bad as IoT botnets, but still extremely dodgy. I'll be thinking twice the next time I download a "free app". htt…

These are actually pretty serious allegations, albeit coming from an unknown Medium author. I'd like to see some kind of independent verification before we jump to conclusions. Perhaps someone who has NordVPN can try out the curl command in the art…
-
I was confused why they needed the Akamai header thing instead of just going to whatismyipaddress.com or similar. Do these VPNs route your traffic via different IPs depending on the traffic destination? If so, even that is a bit shady and unexpecte…

(Quote) Thanks. I learned a new phrase!

Nope, it's this one You could always buy the shares instead! (Disclaimer: not investment advice)

I'm tempted to get one to learn IPv6 on. As these are ovz7, I assume debian 10 should work?
-
Yep, bloody captcha got me. Congratulations @FAT32 !

Just a heads up, there's a bad link "unofficial guide for beginners" on https://lowendspirit.com/help.html that points to a spammy/adult site. I guess the domain expired.
